Weaver Furniture Sales, providers of custom Amish Furniture in Shipshewana, Indiana is closed today January 6, 2010 to celebrate Old Christmas. Old Christmas is actually Epiphany and many Christians celebrate the wise men’s visit to baby Jesus in the manger on this day. The Amish community which LeRoy and Ida Weaver are members of commemorate this day with rest, fasting in the morning and time with family. Generally, all Amish businesses will treat Old Christmas as a day of rest and have their shops and businesses closed. Many celebrate Christmas with their extended families. The Weaver Furniture Sales stores will be open as usual the day after Old Christmas.
